Olive leaves are one of the byproducts of farming our groves, and usually they accumulate during the pruning season.
Recently olive leaves have attracted growing interest in the scientific community, who realised that they are the richest source of olive phenolic active compounds, responsible for the olive trees health benefits.
Therefore important scientific and technical efforts have been made to determine the value of this agricultural waste.

HEALTH BENEFITS
of
OLIVE LEAVES
Olive trees produce different polyphenols, one of which is considered to be
‘The Most Powerful Natural Antioxidant Discovered To Date’.
It’s called HYDROXYTYROSOL and it is held predominantly in the olive leaves which contain:
40 TIMES MORE POLYPHENOLICS THAN EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
and
400% GRATER ANTIOXIDANT CAPACITY THAN VITAMIN C!
Therefore they may help fighting numerous diseases, infections and conditions.
The article below, written by Emily Cronkleton and medically reviewed by Debra Rose Wilson (PhD, MSN, RN, IBCLC, AHN-BC, CHT), highlights some of the key benefits of olive leaves.

SIDE EFFECTS
Olive leaf is a safe herb for use in both adults and children, especially for long-term use, with little known side-effects. However, it's best taken with food to avoid gastrointestinal irritation. If you're taking blood-pressure lowering medication and/or blood thinners, caution is advised.
There is no reliable information on the safety of olive leaf extract during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so avoid using high amounts.
Some people may develop an allergy to olive leaf extract. The pollen from the olive leaf can trigger severe respiratory allergic reactions in people who are allergic to plants in the Oleaceae family, which includes ash trees, lilacs, jasmine, forsythia, privets, and, obviously…olive trees.
